Nothing Special No. 2
Martha Harlan Morgan & William Wasserman
For the second Nothing Special, UCLA MFA Candidate William Wasserman pairs some recent still life paintings with a series of floral watercolors by his late grandmother, Martha Harlan Morgan. Something more than a hobbyist, but never a professional painter, Morgan's influence was pivotal in encouraging Wasserman's artistic inclinations as a youth.
This exhibition highlights conversations around the amateur and the professional, and the roles that gender can play in both shaping and validating creative pursuits.
